On Monday morning (9 March), an Airbus A330-300 from Thai Airways collided with a Gulfstream IV at the airport of the Laotian capital Vientiane. While taxiing on the apron, the passenger aircraft tore off the entire vertical and horizontal tail unit of the parked business aircraft with its left wing. The A330 was damaged at the leading edge of its outer wing.
No one was injured in the event. The A330 belonging to the Thai national airline arrived from Bangkok as flight TG574 before the incident. The Gulfstream IV registered as M-YWAY is operated by Blue Sky Leasing and is registered on the Isle of Man, a self-governing dependency under the British Crown. It is still unclear how the collision occurred.
