The epidemic, which has made die one European airline after another in recent years, recently caught up with Adria Airways. At the beginning of the week it became clear that the airline would never take off again - after 58 years of history. But the Slovenian state does not want to be airlineless. According to local media, a new national airline, Air Slovenia, could soon take off.
Minister of Economy Zdravko Počivalšek explained that Air Slovenia could start at the end of February with a fleet of ten to twelve aircraft and an offer of 15 destinations. According to the politician, Lufthansa will help to get the new airline off ground. However, he did not reveal any details. The establishment of a new national airline also has not yet been decided definitely.
Brussels, Lufthansa and Swiss are already there
The government wants to ensure that Slovenia remains connected. Another option would be to subsidise certain routes. Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss have already announced last week that they will take up flights to Ljubljana.
