After 178 years, the history of one of the largest travel groups in the world came to an end. The Thomas Cook Group filed for bankruptcy on early Monday (September 23rd). The five airlines of the group are therefore also at risk. What is the situation for the individual airlines?

Thomas Cook Airlines UK, United Kingdom: With the bankruptcy of the parent company, the British airline has ceased operations. The approximately 150,000 passengers affected will be flown home today and in the coming days in a gigantic rescue operation with other airlines. Thomas Cook Airlines UK's fleet most recently consisted of 34 jets, 27 Airbus A321s, and seven A330s.

Condor, Germany: The German leisure airline keeps on flying. However, it had to apply for state aid. With a bridging loan, Condor wants to prevent liquidity bottlenecks. The fleet consists of 42 jets: Airbus A320, A321, Boeing 757 and 767. In addition, a number of planes owned by airlines from the Group and external ones are flying for Condor.

Thomas Cook Aviation, Germany: After the end of Air Berlin, Condor took over its subsidiary Air Berlin Aviation. Today, it exclusively flies for the German Thomas Cook subsidiary. It is not affected by the bankruptcy for the time being. The fleet consists of eight Airbus A321s, which support the Condor fleet.

Thomas Cook Airlines Balearics, Spain: The airline, founded in 2017, has its base at Palma Airport. Similarly, the airline operates solely on behalf of Condor and is not affected by the bankruptcy at present. Its fleet consists of six Airbus A320s.

Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia, Denmark: The airline, created in 1994 through the merger of Conair and Scanair, is based in Copenhagen but operates throughout the whole Scandinavian region. It suspended its flights on Monday. In the coming hours, the management wants to inform about the next steps. The fleet consists of four Airbus A330s and eight A321s.
