Condor's lawyers were quick. As soon as it was clear that the German holiday airline could fly on thanks to a state-guaranteed loan, they made sure that the airline can no longer be prosecuted for the debts of its insolvent mother Thomas Cook Group.

But even despite these efforts, the legally independent Condor now has problems because of its past in the Thomas Cook Group. On Friday, the airline cancelled two of its three flights from Germany to the island of Djerba. The reason: A Tunisian hotel company is trying to collect from the insolvent travel group by seizing Condor aircraft.

Tuifly and Lufthansa are helping out

«We had concrete information from official authorities about claims against the Thomas Cook Group in Tunisia which should be enforced against Condor», a spokeswoman of the airline confirmed to aeroTELEGRAPH. It was «explicitly not about claims against Condor». There is also no legal basis for the imminent seizure in Tunisia, she adds.

The cancelled flights were carried out on Saturday (12 October). However, Condor did not carry them out himself, but let Tuifly and Lufthansa fly for them. In this way, the airline was able to avoid the risk of seizure. "We apologize to our guests for the inconvenience," said the spokeswoman.

Problem not solved

However, the problems have not yet been solved. We are currently examining «legal measures against Thomas Cook's creditor at full speed to ensure that Condor can continue to bring guests on holiday to Tunisia and back,» explains the spokeswoman.
