When Turkish Airlines flight TK467 tried to land from Istanbul on Thursday evening (21 November), there were strong crosswinds. The pilots of the Boeing 737-800 had to perform a go-around on their first approach to Odessa. They flew two laps northwest of the airport of the Ukrainian port city and then landed again.
This time the aircraft with the registration TC-JGZ landed. However, according to the first results of the investigation, it left the runway during taxiing, as the airport and the airline reported. The front landing gear collapsed and the plane dropped on its nose. The 134 passengers were evacuated, according to Turkish Airlines they remained unharmed.
Runway closed
Odessa airport had to close its runway and stop operations. All flights were cancelled on Friday, but operations resumed on Saturday.
