Large parts of northern Italy were declared a red zone on Sunday (March, 8). This means that people in 15 provinces are now only allowed to leave or enter their region with valid reasons. They should also only leave their homes if necessary.
The decree of the government in Rome also affects Alitalia. The Italian national airline stopped all flights from Milan-Malpensa on Monday (9 March). The last flight arriving was AZ605 on Monday from New York.
Only some flights from Linate
There are also changes at the other airport of the Italian business capital. From Milan Linate, only domestic flights with reduced frequency will be operated, Alitalia said in a press release. The measures are valid until April, 3.
