Emirates no longer expects to receive its first Boeing 777X on the agreed delivery date. Instead of early 2021, the airline does not expect to receive its first copy of the long-haul aircraft until 2022. The corona pandemic and delays in the certification of the model made 2021 unlikely, Emirates said.
Lufthansa sees things differently. The German airline had recently announced that the first 777X would arrive in Frankfurt «early in 2021». Now a spokesman says: «We continue to expect delivery in 2021». So it might not be «early» anymore, but probably sometime during the course of the year.
Lufthansa's first Boeing 777-9 will carry the registration D-ABTA. The group has ordered 20 Boeing 777Xs and also has 14 additional options.
