After two hard years for the aviation industry, the summer and autumn 2022 mark the return of travel and with it the demand for flying. Personnel are needed in all areas and the search for qualified and certified specialists is enormous.

With three executive education programs, the Center for Aviation Competence at the University of St. Gallen helps to meet the demand for qualified staff and bring existing aviation personnel up-to-date and ready for the next step in their aviation career. Topics such as aviation management, safety management, aviation regulation, aviation compliance and auditing, organization, revenue and cost management, sustainability management and others are offered.

For more than 20 years, the CFAC has been providing services as well as education and training in the field of aviation. The Center is part of the University of St. Gallen, and its purpose is to support aviation through research and services on a scientific and independent basis. The Center is the partner of IATA for Europe, Middle East and Africa and makes a great contribution to the aviation industry with its training programs.

CAS in Aviation Accountability, Safety and Compliance Management (CAS-ASCM)

The CAS-ASCM develops high-potential aviation managers into leaders of tomorrow by combining their aviation experience with management competence and vice-versa. Capacities are built with respect to challenges in accountable management, internal auditing, safety & security management, and cross-cultural management. Completing this program will enable the participants to influence and steer their company by applying their knowledge of the global aviation system. Successful completion of the CAS-ASCM earns 10 ECTS credits, which may be used and accounted for further study programs like the DAS-GATM at the University of St. Gallen.

CAS Sustainable Aviation Management (CAS-SAM)

This certificate program offers a full range of courses meant to provide a comprehensive overview of the burning topic of environmental and social sustainability in Aviation. It is offered in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association IATA.

Participants will get the opportunity to identify a set of measures, which they can implement to achieve short, medium and long-term benefits from the environmental perspective while being conscious of financial sustainability. The process of how carbon credits are created will be examined, the types & locations of carbon offset programs and projects looked at, and the standards for validation/verification of carbon credits and the international standards and rec-ommended practice reviewed. Participants will have the tools to break down sustainable avia-tion fuels (SAF) concepts and assess a basic SAF business case. Furthermore, they will be able to define sustainable aviation strategies for your organization.

DAS Global Air Transport Management (DAS-GATM)

The Diploma of Advanced Studies is offered in cooperation between the University of St. Gallen and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The program content is delivered by academic and industry leading lecturers from the University and IATA.

Successful completion of DAS-GATM earns you 36 ECTS credits, which can be partially applied and transferred to the Executive MBA program of the University of St. Gallen.

The DAS in Global Air Transport Management aims not only to ensure you have an excellent grasp of the theory of the complex aviation system, but also gain knowledge in the relevant topics needed to successfully manage a global aviation company. Modules will be held in Switzerland (St. Gallen and Geneva), Canada (Montreal) and Singapore. High-level industry practitioners and pioneering industry professors, each with an unrivaled aviation system lens, share their global perspectives and specialist expertise.
