Eight injured on Eurowings flight

An Airbus A319 of Eurowings has gotten into turbulence on its way to Berlin. Several passengers were taken from the airport to the hospital.

On Monday afternoon, a Eurowings plane landed at Berlin’s Tegel airport with several injured persons on board. A spokesman for the airport told the newspaper Tagesspiegel that there had been turbulence in the air due to a storm. It is possible that the injured were not strapped in during the turbulence.

An emergency doctor examined 13 passengers after landing. According to the fire department, eight of them were injured and six even had to be taken to hospital. One woman sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. Other people on board suffered from injuries such as broken fingers and bruises.

Plane came from Italy

According to the German news agency DPA, the aircraft was an Airbus A319 from Eurowings. The plane was flight number EW 8855 from Lamezia Terme in southern Italy to Berlin-Tegel, where it landed safely.
